Freddie Gibbs- “Anything to Survive feat. Freeway & Adrian” (2011)

Before Gibbs’ slot at the NYC Rock the Bells stop his DJ, K-Salaam, played this track twice before Gibbs came out and I would have been fine hearing it a third time instead of the same three Biggie songs every other DJ was playing there.

Free gets in a line from “What We Do” at the end of the track.  Him referencing that posse cut (with Hov and Beans) from his debut makes sense.  Not saying “Anything to Survive” is on par with that classic (one of yours truly’s favorite rap songs) but Freeway is rapping with someone supremely talented again here, so why not “SNATCH THE DISHES OUT YA KITCHEN!”
